We have already explained the benefits of using QuickBooks for window cleaning invoices. In this part of our window cleaning invoice guide, we will explain how to set up your QuickBooks account so you can start using the system to your advantage. Your first month with the program will be free, but after that, you will have to pay a monthly fee to use this invoicing service. The fee is usually around $10 a month. If you can learn to use all of the features available to you, that price will be well worth the peace of mind you get in the end.
To sign up for your QuickBooks account, you will first need to select your pricing package. Most self-employed window cleaners will use the “Self-Employed” or the “Simple Start” option. You can compare the options directly on the site and see which one will work best for you. Choose the “Try It Free” option underneath the monthly rate for your desired package and fill out the forms that follow.
Once you confirm your email and complete the necessary steps to create your QuickBooks account, you can start to create invoices online. At the top of the screen, you should see a little plus sign that expands to a set of options. Choose “Invoice” under the “Customers” section to create your first invoice. From there, you can choose from customers you already have stored on your account or choose to create new ones. Add details about the window cleaning services you have provided for each customer, and add tax if necessary. Then you can either save the invoice or send it to the client through an email.
QuickBooks makes it easy to manage monthly window cleaning contracts because you can clearly see when you sent out invoices to your clients and when they paid you. If you accept credit card payments through QuickBooks, it will automatically marked when your invoices are paid. If you do not choose this feature, you will need to go in and manually mark invoices paid. Keep track of all of your contracts through your online account, and you will have a clear visual of your profit and losses every month.
