Indian summer
Mild winter in Michigan this year. Normally I can count on picking up new accounts during a bad winter because a lot of window cleaners quit when the temps get really cold. The good news is that I didn't need much solvent to keep the water from freezing. I use windshield wiper fluid and get it for about $1.39 a gallon in bulk.

This spring is a really good time to target residential work. This year try raising your prices a tad and see what happens. If it doesn't work you can always go back to your original price if you have to.

Window Cleaning In The Colder Months

Here in Metro Detroit we can have some really brutal winters. At first, I would mix rubbing alcohol, maybe one bottle to 6 gallons of water, and that works really well but it’s quite pricey if you can't buy it in bulk.

I switched to windshield wiper fluid a few years ago and it works very well and is half the cost. The quality of solutions is about the same, and you can find it at Sam's Club or Costco for about 99 cents a gallon round here.

Stay warm!

Stay On Top Of Leads
One thing I've learned about getting new clients is to call back my leads immediately. Most of your prospects have or will call other window cleaning companies, so don't procrastinate on returning calls even if you're swamped… even if it’s after hours or on the weekends and it’ll pay off for you!

Bidding Your Window Cleaning Jobs
Of all the many questions we get asked, bidding window cleaning jobs if by far the most. On the one hand you don’t want to overbid and lose the job, and on the other you don’t want to get stuck working for less money than you’re worth.

In the beginning keep it simple. I would have a per window price for the outside windows (commercial) of around one dollar per window;  inside and out one-fifty per window and just count the windows. Stay tuned for more free tips on bidding… clb
