A pressure washer can have many uses, and the
scope of your business is very wide. Here are some power washing tips to consider before beginning any job. Following
these tips can help to assure your safety, undamaged property, and years of trouble free use.
1. Be sure to wear
the proper personal protective gear (eyewear, gloves, and good ventilation mask).
2. Make sure to check the oil levels in your pressure washer’s engine and pump prior to tuning
it on.
3. Make certain to hook up your hose and turn on
the water supply to your pressure washer before starting the machine.
4. Check all hose connections and make absolutely sure they are properly fitted, secure,
and tightened.
5. Check to make sure the pressure washer's
exhaust is free of debris, and that is not too close to any surface that might melt. Also, make sure there is adequate ventilation
for you machine.
6. After starting the pressure washer,
don't allow the unit to run for more than a minute without circulating water through the pump, this is accomplished by pulling
the trigger on the wand; not doing so can overheat the pump and ruin your engine.
7. When changing wand nozzles, be sure the nozzle is fully seated in the quick connect. You should be able to spin
the nozzle while not under pressure if it is seated correctly.
8.
Always point your wand in a safe direction before pulling the trigger.
9. Don't get too close to surfaces that may be damaged by too much pressure, such as vinyl siding, wood, or plaster.
10. Be sure to antifreeze the pump if the power washer is to
be stored outdoors during the colder times of the year. e pressure
washer’s pump and engine oil at least once every season.
